Auszug
Die Annahme einer dauerhaften Identität, die die einzelnen Ereignisse und Zustände des Bewusstseins übergreift und keiner weiteren Begründung bedarf, ist eine konstitutive Fiktion des individuellen Handelns. Wir können nur handeln, wenn wir dieses Handeln auf ein Subjekt, auf uns selbst zurückführen und wenn wir diesem Selbst sowohl Autonomie als auch eine die einzelnen Handlungen überschreitende Kontinuität zuschreiben. Ohne eine solche Voraussetzung wäre weder Erinnerung des Vergangenen noch Planung des zukünftigen Handelns möglich.
Diese identitätsphilosophischen Voraussetzungen verweisen auf den deutschen Idealismus, namentlich auf Fichte, Hegel und Schopenhauer und auf die Sozialphänomenologie, insbesondere auf Alfred Schütz. Die bekannte Dekonstruktion des Subjektes im Poststrukturalismus berührt weder die idealistische noch die phänomenologische Position. Bei diesen geht es nicht um grammatische Funktionen innerhalb eines Textes, sondern um universelle Bewusstseinsvoraussetzungen des Handelns.
