Auszug
Die Analyse der Wohlfahrtssysteme sowie die so entstandene Matrix haben deutlich gezeigt, dass in der politikwissenschaftlichen Diskussion und Forschung zwei Aspekte stärker betont werden müssen: Eigenheit und Pluralität. Alle Wohlfahrtssysteme weisen bei näherer Betrachtung spezifische Charakteristika in wesentlichen Bereichen auf, die insbesondere in ihrer Kombination als nationale Besonderheit gelten müssen. Betrachtet man daher die Gesamtheit europäischer Wohlfahrtssysteme, so springt die Pluralität ins Auge. Diese Entdeckung ist nicht neu: „Indeed, the systems of social protection within the European Union are far from being identical and uniform. Any future scenario for a unified EU involvement in the area of policies regarding social protection must take into account the present situation of differentials and peculiarities.“ (Moreno 2001: 91; siehe auch: 2003).
