„[a]ll research should include a social sciences and humanities component. Putting this into practice is not an easy task. But it will not happen in a top-down manner. I rather believe that you, as social scientists, have to take the responsibility into your hands. But by not doing so, you will remain as you are, not even accepted to discuss today’s important isues.“ (Commmission Speech 2005/786)
