Zusammenfassung

Verfolgt man die mediale Berichterstattung über Unternehmen so wird schnell deutlich, dass der Ruf oder die Reputation eines Unternehmens dessen wirtschaftlichen Erfolg beeinflussen kann (vgl. z. B. Schwalbach 2003; Croft, Dalton 2003). Besonders anschaulich demonstriert dies eine Reihe von Unternehmensaktivitäten, die die Reputation der betreffenden Organisation nachhaltig verschlechtert haben. Beispielsweise sank das öffentliche Ansehen von Shell erheblich, nachdem 1996 dessen Pläne bekannt wurden, die nicht mehr benötigte Ölplattform Brent Spar im Meer zu versenken (vgl. Schwalbach 2003).
