Zusammenfassung

Das mexikanische politischen System wird nach weit verbreiteter Vorstellung für grundlegend korrupt gehalten wird. Von literarischen Erzählungen über akademische Studien und journalistische Berichte bis hin zu offiziellen Gutachten, Umfragen, Sprüchen und volkstümlichen Legenden scheinen alle eine alte Wahrnehmung zu nähren, nach der die Korruption einen Teil des täglichen Lebens in Mexiko ausmacht. Sie ist eine Art dauerhaftes, inhärentes Merkmal, das alle Macht- und Regierungsebenen durchdringt und ein Teil der politischen Kultur des gesamten Landes (Morris 1987, 1991 und 2009; DePalma 1996; Del Castillo und Guerrero 2004; Avilés 2004; ENCUP 2001, 2003, 2005, 2008 und 2012; Sarsfield 2012).
