Umweltschutz – ein Fremdwort für die jordanische Gesellschaft ?

Zusammenfassung

Wie in vielen Ländern der Erde haben auch in Jordanien mit steigendem Bevölkerungswachstum und fortschreitender Entwicklung seit Mitte des 20. Jahrhunderts die Umweltprobleme zugenommen. Als semi-arides Land mit sehr knappen natürlichen Ressourcen ist Jordanien besonders von langfristig wirksamen Umweltschäden im ländlichen und städtisch-industriellen Raum betroffen. Der Schutz der Umwelt und die nachhaltige Bewirtschaftung der natürlichen Ressourcen erweist sich daher als entscheidende Voraussetzung für die künftige wirtschaftliche und soziale Entwicklung des Landes.
