Zusammenfassung

Das Ende des Kalten Krieges läutete zugleich den Niedergang sowjetischer Macht ein. Trotz dieses rapiden Machtverlustes war der Nachfolgestaat der Sowjetunion – die Russische Föderation – fähig, große Teile des alten Militärarsenals zu erhalten. Heutzutage hat Russland der Tonnage nach mit einem Flugzeugträger, 23 größeren Kampfschiffen und 29 Nuklear- U-Booten immer noch die weltweit zweitgrößte Militärflotte.
