Die Europäische Union (EU) als Studienobjekt der Politikwissenschaft berührt nahezu alle ihre Teildisziplinen. Die Internationalen Beziehungen befassten sich mit der EU auf Grund ihrer weit vorangeschrittenen Integration von Nationalstaaten, die als erklärungsbedürftige Kooperation im internationalen System angesehen wurde.
