Zusammenfassung

Im Jahr 2009 äußerte der Staatssekretär für Erziehung der britischen Regierung (etwa das Pendant zum deutschen Bundesminister): My ambition is for England to have the best school system in the world … schools are central to our … vision … to make England the best country in the world to grow up. (DCSF 2009, S. 2)2 Die Ambition der britischen Regierung ein „weltklasse“ Schulsystem zu haben, wird von vielen anderen Ländern geteilt, und ist tatsächlich ein essenzieller Teil der Globalisierungsrhetorik.

Anmerkung der Herausgeberinnen: Bei diesem Beitrag handelt es sich um die Übersetzung eines Vortragsmanuskriptes. Der Vortrag wurde von Robin Alexander im Sommersemester 2010 im Rahmen einer Veranstaltungsreihe „Kulturvergleich in der qualitativen Froschung“ am Zentrum für Schul- und Bildungsforschung (ZSB) an der Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg gehalten.
