Globalisierung: Weltkulturelle, weltgesellschaftliche und transnationale Perspektiven

Zusammenfassung

Ziel dieses Kapitels ist es, den Globalisierungsbegriff im Hinblick auf seine Bedeutungsaspekte, Kernvorstellungen und Reichweite darzustellen. Zunächst wird dessen Entstehungs- und Problemkontext nach 1945 skizziert (2). Anschließend werden (religions-)soziologische Globalisierungsperspektiven, nämlich die Konzepte Globalisierung, weltkulturelle Institutionen sowie Weltgesellschaft behandelt und abschließend der Zugriff über Transnationalisierung skizziert. (3). Im dritten Schritt soll anhand ausgewählter historisch-empirischer Beispiele die Erklärungskraft und die Leistungsfähigkeit dieser Konzepte diskutiert werden (4). Abschließend werden die Ergebnisse auf ausstehende Forschungsdesigns hin diskutiert und die Globalisierung als Prozessbegriff nochmals thematisiert (5). Der Prozessbegriff der Globalisierung ist als Beschreibungsbegriff geeignet, weltumspannende Prozesse gegenstandsnah zu erfassen. Daher lässt sich dieser Begriff heute als ein Instrument zur Erforschung einer Vielzahl unterschiedlicher Phänomene nutzen, die sich in der Ausbildung von Globalität und globalen Sinneinheiten, in der Rationalisierung religiöser Organisationen sowie deren Interaktionen und einer transnationalen Logik manifestieren.
