Die Strahlkraft einer Fachdisziplin wird wesentlich durch die Leitbegriffe geprägt, die im Zentrum ihrer Theoriebildung, Methodenentwicklung und der darauf aufbauenden empirischen Analysen stehen. Mit den Termini Identität, Image und Reputation spezialisiert sich die PR-Wissenschaft auf ein sozialwissenschaftlich außerordentlich bedeutsames Begriffsfeld. Elementare gesellschaftliche Zusammenhänge lassen sich mit diesen Topoi modellieren.
