Abstract
Through his many scholarly books, articles, and editions, Dr. Eis has well proved the importance of medieval Fachprosa for any study of German language and literature. The purpose of this brief contribution is to bolster his arguments by showing that Fachsprache was Germany’s chief linguistic export to England during the Middle Ages, as it has since continued to be. Whereas Germany’s early belletristic vocabulary contributed but little to English, her technical terminology was readily accepted.
