Abstract
This subchapter describes the findings of the monofactorial analysis, i.e. the findings that relate to the clausal integration of modal verbs only (disregarding the distribution of semantic and syntactic usage features within the clauses). The first part of the chapter is concerned with the basic descriptive measures: the observed and expected absolute as well as relative frequencies (in the form of contingency tables and a CA plot) and associations between modal verb and clause type. Then, HCFA is applied to both the exploratory and replication dataset.
