Tora ist die hebräische Bezeichnung für das Gesamtcorpus der Fünf Bücher Mose (Pentateuch). Der Begriff ist abgeleitet vom hebr. Verb jārāh III, »zeigen«, »unterweisen«; die Nominalbildung Tôrāh (Pl. Tôrôt) bedeutet demzufolge »(Unter-)Weisung«, »Lehre«, »Belehrung«.
