Zusammenfassung

Die Beschäftigung mit sprachlicher Relativität gründet auf dem konstruktiven Charakter von Sprachen und deren Einfluss auf die menschliche Kognition. Im Vordergrund steht die konstruktive Eigenschaft einer Sprache, die außersprachliche Welt zu kategorisieren. Zugleich wird angenommen, dass kulturelle Prägungen und umweltbedingte Faktoren einen Einfluss auf die Sprache und somit auch auf die Kognition haben.
