Zusammenfassung

Da zu den Vorgängen rund um Kellers Wahl zum Ersten Zürcher Staatsschreiber am 14. September 1861 nur spärliche Informationen zu finden sind, kann man heute nur spekulieren, wie und warum es dazu gekommen ist, dass Keller »sich unversehens im Besitze der verhältnismäßig bestbesoldeten Staatsstelle des Kantons befand« (Baechtold, 1894–97, Bd. 2, 317). Kellers Wahl war damals sehr umstritten und wurde von vielen Seiten in Frage gestellt.
