Zusammenfassung
Stellen wir uns in einem Gedankenexperiment ein Miniuniversum vor, das von drei roten Kugeln bewohnt wird. Wie viele Gegenstände enthält diese Welt? Diese auf den ersten Blick einfache Frage hat seit Beginn der Ontologie zu erbitterten und bis heute unentschiedenen Auseinandersetzungen geführt. Um die uns hier betreffende Ebene der Dispute zu verstehen, tun wir gut daran, die wichtigsten Streitparteien zu identifizieren.
