Zusammenfassung
Die Fokus-Hintergrund-Unterscheidung ist motiviert durch die Beobachtung, dass sich (assertierende) Sätze aufgliedern lassen in einen Teil, der an Bekanntes und/oder Vorerwähntes anschließt und einen Teil, der für einen Adressaten im Rahmen einer Äußerungssituation ›neue‹ Information darstellt. Die Aufgliederbarkeit von Sätzen in ›Bekanntes‹ und ›Neues‹ leuchtet unmittelbar ein, wenn man sie sich in der Funktion als Antworten auf vorangegangene Fragen anschaut, vgl.
