Nichteheliche Lebensgemeinschaften

Zusammenfassung

Nichteheliche Lebensgemeinschaften werden im Alltagsbewußtsein als Probeehe verstanden und auch von den Betroffenen oft als Test für eine spätere Ehe angesehen (vgl. z.B. DeMaris/Leslie 1984: 77). Vor diesem Hintergrund lassen die Ehen, denen eine Nichteheliche Lebensgemeinschaft vorausgegangen ist, eine größere Stabilität erwarten. Dennoch kommen nur wenige Untersuchungen zu diesem Ergebnis (z.B. Klijzing 1992; Brüderl et al. 1997; Hall 1997). Aus empirischen Studien ist hingegen die Erkenntnis vorherrschend, daß Nichteheliche Lebensgemeinschaften mit einer größeren Instabilität der späteren Ehe einhergehen (z.B. Balakrishnan et al. 1987; Bennett et al. 1988; Booth/Johnson 1988; Bracher et al. 1993; Bumpass/ Sweet 1989; DeMaris/MacDonald 1993; DeMaris/Rao 1992; Hall/Zhao 1995; Teachman/Polonko 1990; Teachman et al. 1991; Thomson/Colella 1992).

Der vorliegende Beitrag beruht auf zwei Vorträgen, zum einen auf dem Demographischen Symposion 1996 (vom 21.-22.11.1996 in Bielefeld) und zum anderen auf der Frühjahrstagung der DGS-Sektion „Familien- und Jugendsoziologie“ (vom 5.-7.6.1997 in Berlin).
