Zusammenfassung
Die britische Kolonie St. Lucia, die zuvor durch den Gouverneur der Leeward Islands Federation verwaltet worden war, gliederte sich bei deren Gründung 1958 in die British West Indies Federation ein. Diese Föderation, die bereits 1962 auseinanderbrach, wurde von zehn britischen Insel-Kolonien mit dem Ziel gegründet, als wirtschaftlich und politisch lebensfähige Einheit von Großbritannien unabhängig zu werden.
