Zusammenfassung

Im Mittelpunkt dieses Beitrags stehen sowohl Laienhelfer als auch professionelle Helfer, wobei der Schwerpunkt der Betrachtung in den einzelnen Unterabschnitten wechselt. Im ersten Teil wird auf die Bedeutung sozialer Unterstützung durch Laienhelfer für die Bewältigung belastender Situationen eingegangen. In diesem Zusammenhang werden verschiedene Formen sozialer Unterstützung unterschieden, und ihre Effektivität wird diskutiert. Im weiteren geht es um prosoziale Normen und die Frage, wie Hilfeempfänger auf Laienhilfe reagieren. Hilfesuchen und Hilfeerhalten sind Bestandteil von möglicherweise problembelasteten sozialen Interaktionen, die schon in der Schule viele negative Implikationen haben, wenn Hilfeempfänger verspottet werden und Geber angeben (Krappmann/Oswald 1988).
