One of the more sobering experiences for a student of finance is to explain the irrelevancy propositions to a corporate treasurer.

Vgl. Schmidt [Property Rights] 1988, S. 242 und Schmidt [Finanzierung] 1993, Sp. 1041.
Vgl. Hax [Theorie] 1991, S. 63–66.
Die ursprüngliche Bezeichnung “New Institutional Economics” geht auf Williamson zurück. Vgl. Williamson [Markets] 1975, S. 1. Vgl. auch Coase [Institutional Economics] 1984, S. 229.
Vgl.

“What is wanted is a generalization of economic theory to obtain an expanded scope of validity without eliminating any (or ‘too much’) of the class of events for which it already is valid.”

Vgl. Brennan/Kraus [Notes] 1984, S. 33.

“Information on project quality may be transferred if the actions of entrepreneurs can be observed. One such action is the willingness of the person(s) with inside information to invest in the project or firm. This willingness to invest may serve as a signal to the lending market of the true quality of the project.”
Vgl. Flannery [Information] 1986, S. 35 und Hartmann-Wendels [Integration] 1990, S. 233, Fn. 13.

“Although the debt level does not affect the entrepreneur’s objective directly, his choice of the fraction of the equity he retains implies a debt level through the external funds constraint.” Aus: Harris/Raviv [Theory] 1991, S. 313.

“We are assuming, realistically, that a firm ‘should’ be able to meet its dividend commitment without recourse to extra, ’unanticipated’ new financing.”
Vgl. Bhattacharya [Signalling Structures] 1980, S. 4.
Vgl. Miller/Rock [Dividend Policy] 1985, S. 1031–1051.
Vgl. Miller/Rock [Dividend Policy] 1985, S. 1045, Fn. 17 sowie S. 1047.
“The financing announcement effect is merely the dividend announcement effect, but with sign reversed. Positive values of net dividends can be interpreted as ‘dividends’ in the ordinary sense and negative values as,financing’.”

“If old shareholders are assumed to be act i v e, and to rebalance their portfolios in response to what they learn from the firm’s actions, then financing does n o t matter.” Aus: Myers/Majluf [Corporate Financing] 1984, S. 189.
Vgl. Myers/Majluf [Corporate Financing] 1984, S. 188 sowie S. 198–201.
“The cost to old shareholders of issuing shares at a bargain price may outweigh the project’s NPV. This possibility makes the problem interesting: investors, aware of their relative ignorance, will reason that a decision n o t to issue shares signals ‘good news’. The news conveyed by an issue is bad or at least less good.”
“Models based on asymmetric information can predict the two central ideas of the pecking order story: first, the preference for internal finance, and, second, the preference for debt over equity if external financing is sought.” Aus: Myers [Capital Structure] 1984, S. 585.
Vgl. Myers/Majluf [Corporate Financing] 1984, S. 207. Vgl. auch Myers [Capital Structure] 1984, S. 584.
“For example, an unusually profitable firm in an industry with relatively slow growth (few investment opportunities) will end up with an unusually low debt-to-equity ratio.”

Vgl. Keeton [Credit Rationing] 1979, S. 172–253. Vgl. auch Baltensperger/Devinney [Credit Rationing] 1985, S. 479, Fn. 1 sowie S. 482 und Schneider [Investition] 1990, S. 536, Fn. 45.
“Credit rationing occurs when lenders quote an interest rate on loans and then proceed to supply a smaller loan size than that demanded by the borrowers.”

“Banks making loans are concerned about the interest rate they receive on the loan, and the riskiness of the loan. However, the interest rate a bank charges may itself affect the riskiness of the pool of loans by either: I) sorting potential borrowers (the adverse selection effect); or 2) affecting the actions of borrowers (the incentive effect).” Aus: Stiglitz/Weiss [Credit Rationing] 1981, S. 393.
Vgl.
Vgl. Stiglitz/Weiss [Credit Rationing] 1981, S. 393 sowie S. 395–401.
