Abstract

This review is devoted to our recent finding that the plasma or serum of blood from patients suffering from coronary heart disease (CHD) with angiographically assessed coronary atherosclerosis has atherogenic properties. It has been established that atherogenicity of the serum is associated with low density lipoprotein (LDL) which differ from the LDL of healthy subjects. It was found out that atherogenic serum of patients contains anti-LDL autoantibodies which sharply increase LDL atherogenicity. And finally, some clinical applications based on the discovery of atherogenicity factors in the blood of CHD-patients are presented in this review.
