Zusammenfassung

Wir sind Prof. Knipping sehr zu Dank verpflichtet für die außerordentlichen Möglichkeiten, die uns auf dieser Konferenz geboten werden. Wir genießen den Vorteil, daß sich hier eine kleine Gruppe von Fachleuten trifft, die alle an einem speziellen Thema interessiert sind, das in vielfältiger Weise und aus den verschiedensten Aspekten heraus verfolgt wird. — Die Bedeutung der Forschung auf dem Gebiet der Kernenergie wird am ehesten deutlich durch die großen finanziellen Summen, die hierfür von all den Nationen aufgebracht werden, von denen auch Teilnehmer zu diesem Kongreß entsandt worden sind.

Abstract

It is to Professor Knipping that we are indebted for the extraordinary opportunities with which this Conference presents us. We have the ad­vantages of a meeting of a small group interested in a single subject pursued in a multiplicity of ways viewed from a number of different aspects. The importance of the field of nuclear energy is best attested to by the sums of money which are being spent in the aggregate of all the nations from which the members of this Conference have come. In Nuclear Medicine the velocity of change in devices and the extremely rapid pace of idea development have rendered ineffective the more usual channels of scientific medical communications and made vitally necessary the convocation of groups of distinguished guests such as this conference represents. Professor Knipping has wisely arranged the schedule whereby one quarter of the day provides grist for the discussion of another quarter of the day on an informal and personal basis together with a third quarter of the day for more cultural pursuits and the final quarter for sleep and cogitation of what we have learned. His thoughtful and excellent arrangements permit unusual personal evaluation of the subjects of discussion.

C’est au Professeur Knipping que nous sommes redevables des possibilités extraordinaires que nous offre cette Conférence. Nous avons tous les avantages d’une réunion d’un groupe restreint qui s’intéresse à un seul sujet et l’examine de multiplès manieres et sous une multitude d’angles différents. Les moyens financiers mis en ceuvre par toutes les nations d’où proviennent les membres de cette Conférence, attestent de la manière la plus éloquente l’importance des recherches en matière nucléaire.
