Zusammenfassung
Der äußere Photoeffekt an Festkörpern wird im Rahmen des Bändermodells behandelt. Photo-emission entsteht bei optischer Anregung von Festkörperelektronen in freie Zustände, die oberhalb des Vakuumniveaus liegen, so daß eine gewisse Wahrscheinlichkeit für das Verlassen des endlichen Festkörpers besteht. Eine quantitative Beschreibung wird mit den Begriffen Eindringtiefe der Strahlung, Austrittstiefe der Elektronen und Austrittsarbeit vorgenommen.
