Abstract
The document here transcribed seems to record payments of money from a number of persons presented, as usual, in no discernible order. The persons listed appear in the genitive case after it(ape(), except where the name is indeclinable, or where the scribe may have absent-mindedly listed a nominative (lines 16, 19, 21, and 25); in one line (8), there appears to be a dative. Names are, as often in lists and accounts, followed by additional identifying elements, usually the father’s name or a status designation; in one case (line 7), the place of origin appears as the additional element; in another (line 21), the individual’s name appears alone. Except as observed in the notes below, the names appearing on this list are common in Oxyrhynchus documents of the sixth century (see especially P.Oxy. XVI). The writing suits the same period, and the expression παρà кεράτια after sums of voµíσµατα, where in most lines more than six carats per solidus are specified, suggests a date at the middle or in the second half of this century: See J. Gascou on P.Strasb. IX 820, pp. 29–30. The hand is small (4–5 letters per centimeter) and tight, practiced and clear, laid on in brownish ink on papyrus of good quality.
