Zusammenfassung

Nachdem auf die Strukturierung von FuE-Aktivitäten eingegangen worden ist, soll in diesen Kapitel zunächst dargestellt werden, welche Ausmaße Forschung und Entwicklung in modernen Volkswirtschaften annehmen kann. Hierzu ist in Kürze auf einige Aspekte der Datenerhebung einzugehen. Anschließend wird ein quantitativer Überblick über die Entwicklung der FuE-Aktivitäten seit Beginn der 60er Jahre gegeben. Der Überblick wird ergänzt um eine Darstellung der heutigen Struktur von Forschung und Entwicklung in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland. Schließlich wird ausführlich auf Forschung und Entwicklung im Unternehmenssektor eingegangen. Im zweiten Teil dieses Kapitels wird untersucht, ob von der Bedeutung und Ausgestaltung von Forschung und Entwicklung auf einen investiven Charakter der FuE-Aufwendungen geschlossen werden kann.
