Verglichen mit reichen sozial- und rechtsstaatlich verfassten Demokratien der ersten Welt sind die Lebensbedingungen für große Teile der Bevölkerung in vielen Ländern der Dritten Welt unsäglich schlecht: Armut, Hungersnöte, Überschuldung des Staates, erbärmliche und unhygienische Wohnbedingungen, Krankheiten, Epidemien, Ausbeutung, Menschenrechtsverletzungen, unzulängliche oder fehlende Bildung, fehlende persönliche Sicherheit, fehlende Rechtssicherheit, Bürgerkriege, Flüchtlingselend u.a.m.: eine andere Welt.
