Zusammenfassung

Die sozialwissenschaftliche Forschung hat sich seit mehr als zwei Jahrzehnten mit Determinanten mitweltverantwortlichen Verhaltens beschäftigt, insbesondere mit dem Einfluß von Einstellungen — häufig operationalisiert als Umweltbewußtsein — auf Verhaltensweisen wie Energiesparen, Abfallrecycling, Kauf von sogenannten umweltfreundlichen Produkten oder Menschenrechte und fair trade. Dabei wurde lange von der Annahme ausgegangen, daß die Förderung von mitweltverantwortlichen Einstellungen automatisch zu entsprechendem Verhalten und damit zu einer Verringerung der Konsumauswirkungen auf die Mitwelt führen1, auch über entsprechende Einflußnahme auf die Produktionsseite2. Unter nachhaltiger Entwicklung als Zielsetzung mitweltverantwortlichens Handelns werden im Folgenden sowohl ökologische als auch soziale Aspekte verstanden.
