Die politischen Systeme Osteuropas

Zusammenfassung

Am 21. August 1991 erklärte das estnische Parlament die Übergangszeit zur Erlangung der Unabhängigkeit Estlands für beendet. Diesem vorläufigen Endpunkt in der staatlichen Entwicklung der nördlichsten Republik des Baltikums gingen — seit der Verkündung der Prinzipien von Glasnost’ und Perestrojka durch Michail Gorbatschow 1985 — spannungsreiche Jahre voraus, in denen die Bemühungen der estnischen Bevölkerung um die Wiederherstellung der nationalen Souveränität auch kritische Phasen durchliefen.
