Zusammenfassung
Belastungen beeinträchtigen Entwicklungschancen — diese Aussage scheint einleuchtend und vielfältig bestätigt. Als Beispiel kann man an die Auswirkungen von ökonomischen Belastungen auf die Beziehungen zwischen den Eltern denken, die folgende Beeinträchtigung der Erziehungsqualitäten und schließlich die hiervon ausgehende Gefahr zu Problemverhalten bei den Kindern (Elder/Van Nguyen/ Caspi 1985). Diese Forschung zeigt aber auch, daß Belastungen bis zu einem gewissen Grad kompensiert werden können.
