Zusammenfassung

Es gibt zwei Gründe dafür, von einer Krise der Vaterschaft zu sprechen: der erste Grund besteht darin, daß heute alle bisherigen Bedeutungen der Vaterschaft zur Diskussion stehen. Die Fundamente der Vaterschaft — der Status und die Position des Vaters, beide eng verbunden mit der männlichen Geschlechtsidentität — sind nicht länger unumstritten (Kimmel 1987; Morgan 1992). Der zweite Grund, von einer Krise der Vaterschaft zu sprechen, besteht darin, daß gerade wegen der Änderung der Fundamente von Vaterschaft viele individuelle Väter den Blick dafür verlieren, was Vaterschaft bedeuten könnte und was von ihnen als Väter erwartet wird. Veränderungen in der Art und Bedeutung institutionalisierter und internalisierter Rollen — und hierum geht es bei der Vaterschaft — können zu großer Verwirrung führen (Meuffels 1993).
