Eine experimentelle Studie zur Informationsverarbeitung

Zusammenfassung

Empirische Untersuchungen der Wirkung von (politischen) Informationen in den Massenmedien befaßten sich vor allem mit zwei Aspekten (Lowery & De Fleur, 1983): dem potentiellen Einfluß der Medien auf Meinungsbildung und Einstellungswandel sowie ihrem potentiellen Einfluß auf Wissen, Kenntnisse und soziale Wahrnehmung. Historisch betrachtet, kann man zwei Forschungstraditionen unterscheiden (Kepplinger et al., 1991): Untersuchungen affektiver Medienwirkungen einerseits, Analysen kognitiver Effekte andererseits. In beiden Forschungstraditionen herrschten zwei methodische Vorgehensweisen vor, die zum Teil widersprüchliche Ergebnisse produzierten: experimentelle Untersuchungsanlagen sowie Kombinationen von Bevölkerungsbefragungen mit Inhaltsanalysen der Medienberichterstattung.

Die vorliegende Untersuchung wurde von der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (Az. Sta 293/4–1) unterstützt. Konzeption und Durchführung erfolgten in Zusammenarbeit mit Mirjam Bühl, Michael Hertl und Uli Korn sowie Claudia Burau, Rita Gilles-Loosen, Petra Keller, Ralph Riemann und Anja Stolz.
