Zusammenfassung
Die religionswissenschaftliche und ethnologische Forschung der letzten Jahrzehnte hat Begriffe wie „Ritual“ und „Mythos“ wiederentdeckt und ihnen einen neuen Sinn gegeben. Untersuchungen über traditionelle Gesellschaften haben die grosse Bedeutung von Mythos und Ritual in der Bestimmung, Legitimation und Erhaltung des gesellschaftlichen Lebens erwiesen. Als Formen religiöser Kommunikation stellen Mythos und Ritual eine Synthese von körperlichen und geistigen Erfahrungen dar, mittels derer Menschen versuchen, Erlösung zu erlangen und ihren Platz im sozialen wie im kosmischen Plan zu finden.
