Die Bevölkerungszahl beträgt 74.000 (1978), die der Erwerbstätigen ca. 22.000. Das Pro-Kopf-Einkommen liegt bei 950 US $ (1978). Hauptarbeitgeber ist der Staat sowie die Tourismusbranche.
