Zusammenfassung

Die folgenden Überlegungen zur Apposition sind vor dem Hintergrund der Maschinellen Sprachverarbeitung, genauer gesagt, der Frage, wie man die Kontextabhängigkeit natürlicher Sprache operationalisieren kann, entstanden. In der Maschinellen Sprachverarbeitung, aber auch im Bereich der kognitiv orientierten Semantik, wird zur Zeit eine Verarbeitungsstrategie der Unterspezifikation diskutiert. Das heißt, die Bedeutung eines lexikalischen Ausdrucks wird zunächst als unterspezifiziert angenommen und der in der Äußerung intendierte Sinn erst anhand des Äußerungskontexts ermittelt.1 Damit wird das notorische Problem der kombinatorischen Explosion — ohne kontextuelle Information wäre man genötigt, sämtliche Interpretationsalternativen zu verfolgen — vermieden. Es fragt sich jedoch, ob die Strategie der Unterspezifikation einfach nur ein technischer Trick oder auch aus semantischer Sicht gerechtfertigt ist.
