Zusammenfassung
Wann immer in Gesprächen und Diskussionen über die Globalisierung und ihre Kritiker/innen der Name Attac fallt, verursacht er bei den „Uneingeweihten“ eine gewisse Mischung aus Irritation und Interesse. Und so ist es auch kein Einzelfall, wenn beispielsweise die Süddeutsche Zeitung ein Portrait von Attac mit „Angriff auf die Weltwirtschaft“ überschreibt (SZ vom 19.7.2001). Nichtsdestotrotz steht Attac nicht fir Angriff, sondern leitet sich aus der französischen Abkürzung von Association pour la Taxation des Transactions financières pour l’Aide aux Citoyens her.1 Was auf Deutsch soviel heißt wie Vereinigung zur Besteuerung von Devisentransaktionen zum Wohle der Bürger/innen.(http://www.attac.org)
Attac wird überall dort präsent sein, wo über Alternativen nachgedacht wird und Aktionen durchgeführt werden, die zeigen, dass „eine andere Welt möglich ist“. (Attac Frankreich 2002)
