Zusammenfassung

Aristoteles unterscheidet bekanntlich vier Arten von Ursachen. Eine dieser Arten ist die der finalen Ursachen. So ist die Ursache des Verhaltens dieses Passanten, den ich ein Tabakgeschäft betreten sehe, die Absicht, eine Packung Zigaretten zu kaufen. Der Zweck (télos) seines Verhaltens ist sowohl dessen Grund als auch dessen Ursache. Die Erklärung einer Entscheidung wird dann als teleologisch bezeichnet, wenn sie auf den Zwecken beruht, die von einem Individuum, einer Gruppe oder einem System verfolgt werden.
