Nachdem in Kapitel 4 die kognitive Information und in Kapitel 5 der kognitive Informationsprozessor beschrieben wurden, ist es Aufgabe des vorliegenden Kapitels, Information und Prozessor aufeinander zu beziehen. Wenn ein kognitiver Prozessor Information verarbeitet, entsteht hieraus auf der Grundlage seiner Intentionalität und Situiertheit eine spezifische kognitive Repräsentation.
