Zusammenfassung

Ländervergleichend angelegte empirische Wahlstudien sind Mangelware. Die Arbeiten, die vorliegen — etwa die von Lewis-Beck (1988) zum Zusammenhang zwischen wirtschaftlichen Erwägungen und Wahlverhalten oder die von Franklin, Mackie, Valen et al. (1992) zum Zusammenhang zwischen Sozialstruktur und Wahlverhalten — sind zudem stärker an Gemeinsamkeiten zwischen den Ländern interessiert und blenden Systemspezifisches weitgehend aus. Da aber gerade die Unterschiede in der Determination von Wahlverhalten zwischen verschiedenen sozio-politischen Kontexten, verschiedenen institutionellen Arrangements und verschiedenen Parteifunktionen uns über den Einfluß politischer Variablen auf den Prozeß der Wahlentscheidung Aufschluß geben können, wissen wir darüber recht wenig.

Eine erste Version dieses Kapitels wurde auf der Konferenz des Arbeitskreises “Wahl- und Einstellungsforschung” im Frühjahr 1993 auf Schloß Rauishholzhausen bei Gießen präsentiert. Ich danke den Teilnehmern dieser Konferenz und Franz U. Pappi für eine Reihe kritischer Anmerkungen, die mir beider Überarbeitung des Papiers geholfen haben.
