Zusammenfassung
Schenkt man der Zunft der Managementpropheten Glauben, so geht die Ära von Total Quality Management, Business Process Reengineering und Kernkompetenzen vorerst ihrem Ende zu. Zum Beginn des neuen Milleniums hat sich „Knowledge Management“ auf einem der vordersten Ränge in der Hitliste neuer Managementkonzepte plaziert. Unter dem Begriff Wissensmanagement kann die Gesamtheit aller Konzepte verstanden werden, welche Wissen als strategische Ressource von Unternehmen beschreiben sowie Instrumente zur bewussten Gestaltung wissensrelevanter Prozesse in Organisationen erarbeiten (Raub 2000). Obwohl auch das Management des Wissens unverkennbar die Züge einer Managementmode trägt (Raub/Rilling 2000), lassen sich bei einer genaueren Betrachtung des aktuellen Umfeldes zahlreiche Faktoren identifizieren, die zur Erklärung seiner Popularität beitragen können. Wissen ist heute aus mehr als einer Perspektive zu einer bestimmenden Größe des wirtschaftlichen Erfolges geworden.
