Zusammenfassung
Bisher wurden in der Literatur eine Vielzahl von Definitions- und Klassifizierungsansätzen gewählt, um Geschäften mit reziproker, nicht-monetärer Komponente Rechnung zu tragen. Schuster stellte in diesem Zusammenhang die zentralsten Unterscheidungsmerkmale des Countertrade zusammen, wobei er allerdings die äußerst wichtige Differenzierung zwischen nationalem und internationalem Countertrade nicht berücksichtigte. Zu dem bei diesem Autor verfolgten Ansatz gehören folgende Aspekte, die jedoch weder einen Anspruch auf Vollständigkeit erheben noch alle bei jedem Kompensationsgeschäft eine Rolle spielen müssen:1

die verfolgten Countertrade-Ziele (Absatz, Beschaffung oder Mischform)

die Anzahl der beteiligten Parteien

die Geschlossenheit des Realgüterkreislaufs (Eigen- und Fremdkompensation)

das wertmäßige Verhältnis von Leistung und Gegenleistung (Voll- und Teilkompensation)
-
die zeitliche Abfolge der Teilgeschäfte
-
der Konkretisierungsgrad der Gegenware
-
die materielle Verbundenheit von Lieferung und Gegenlieferung
-
die Technik des Leistungsausgleichs
-
die vertragliche Konstruktion
