Zusammenfassung

Dieser Beitrag gibt einen Überblick über den aktuellen Stand der Autoritarismusforschung. Neben einer kurzen Einführung in die klassische Studie von Adorno et al. (1950) und der Darstellung zentraler Kritikpunkte an dieser Studie, stehen neuere theoretische Entwicklungen im Zentrum des Interesses. Dabei wird in die Ansätze und Kontroversen eingeführt, die in den folgenden Beiträgen von den Vertretern der unterschiedlichen Positionen vertiefend diskutiert werden.

Für Anregungen und kritische Kommentare an früheren Fassungen dieses Beitrages bedanken wir uns bei Christel Hopf, Gerda Lederer und Peter Rieker.
