Mechatronic Object-Oriented Modelling and Control Strategies for Vehicle Convoy Driving

  • Chapter
Proceedings of the Third Conference on Mechatronics and Robotics

Abstract

This paper reports on the contribution of the Paderborn group to a co-project1 of five German research groups. By means of an example from vehicle dynamics, the vehicle convoy driving, modelling, analysis and synthesis approaches of a mechatronics integration project are presented. The new object-oriented modelling method for mechatronic systems, developed by the MLaP, is introduced in an exemplary way. The particular importance of analytical and therefore symbolic modelling is explained. Based on this approach control strategies for lateral and longitudinal dynamics and obtained control results are outlined. Applications in laboratory and field works are shown. Finally will be presented the software environment CAMeL, developed at the MLaP and used for the integrated design of mechatronic systems.

1 The project has been sponsored by the VOLKSWAGEN foundation (AZ I/67 975-9 and AZ I/70 092-6).
