Wachstum von Mykorrhiza- und Nichtmykorrhiza-Strategen auf nährstoffarmen Bergbauböden nach Inokulation mit arbuskulären Mykorrhizapilzen

Stoffumsatz im wurzelnahen Raum

Abstract

On lignite mine spoils poor in mineral nutrients, only few non-mycorrhizal (NM) plant species are observed in the understorey of young forest stands in Lusatia (Germany), facultative arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) strategists are dominating. Inoculation experiments (field/pot) were performed to investigate, whether facultative AM strategists can benefit from mycorrhizal symbiosis under these conditions and whether NM strategists are disadvantaged by the presence of mycorrhizal fungi in mine spoils.

The results indicate that low nutrient availability in lignite spoil limits the growth of NM strategists. In contrast, mycorrhization can increase biomass and P uptake of facultative AM grass species not benefitting from this symbiosis under more fertile site conditions.
