Zusammenfassung
Technologie und Innovation haben stark an Bedeutung gewonnen und insbesondere der IT kommt im Zusammenhang mit Innovationen eine zentrale Rolle zu. Die rasante technologische Entwicklung im Bereich der Informations- und Kommunikationstechnik hat sich als Treiber zahlloser Innovationen erwiesen, deren Möglichkeiten dem Markt in vielen Dingen oftmals weit voraus sind. Es wird daher im Kontext von IT und Innovationen oftmals von einem Technology Push gesprochen. Der technische Fortschritt, beispielsweise im Zusammenhang mit dem Internet, und die Durchdringung von Organisationen und Privathaushalten mit IT führt aber auch dazu, dass neue Bedürfnisse bei Individuen und Organisationen geweckt werden, die vorher nicht existierten und nach neuartigen Lösungsansätzen bzw. Produkten auf Grundlage von IT verlangen. Die Literatur spricht in diesem Zusammenhang auch von einem Market Pull im Kontext von IT.
