Abstract

According to the more recent literature on middles2 (Keyser & Roeper 1984; Roberts 1987; Cinque 1988; SigurÖsson 1989; Fagan 1992; Hoekstra & Roberts 1993; Ackema & Schorlemmer 1995), sentences like the following involve middle constructions:
