Zusammenfassung
236 Personen aus der Allgemeinbevölkerung beantworteten in zwei Befragungswellen Fragen zu Fernsehmotiven, zur Mediennutzung, zu ihren Präferenzen für bestimmte TV-Genre, sowie (verdeckt erhoben) zum Reality-TV-Konsum. Darüber hinaus wurde ihre Befähigung zur Empathie mit Hilfe des Multidimensionalen Fragebogens zur Empathiemessung (MFE) erfasst. Zur Feststellung der Fernsehmotive wurden nach den Prinzipien der klassischen Testtheorie erste Schritte zur Entwicklung eines Fragebogens zur Erfassung von Fernsehmotiven (FEFM) unternommen. Reality-TV-Vielseher, das zeigen die Ergebnisse aus dieser Stichprobe, setzen sich aus unterschiedlichen Gruppen, nämlich aus allgemeinen Vielsehern und aus Personen, die selektiv Reality-TV-Programme sehen, zusammen. Der Reality-TVKonsum der Zuschauer lässt sich zu einem relevanten Anteil auf der Basis des Fernsehmotivs „Bedürfnis nach Identitätssicherung“ vorher sagen. Persönlichkeitspsychologisch neigen die Reality-TV-Vielseher zu erhöhten Betroffenheitsreaktionen. Die beiden Reality-TV-Vielseher-Gruppen weisen darüber hinaus weitere persönlichkeitspsychologische Differenzen auf an Hand derer sie sich gut unterscheiden lassen.
