Zusammenfassung
Durch die verstärkte Nutzung von mobilen Endgeräten und den darauf ausgeführten Apphkationen wächst der Wunsch der Benutzer nach möglichst wenigen Medienbrüchen. Sofern nicht alle Dienste aus einer Hand bezogen werden, müssen Daten (z.B. das Benutzerprofil) und Präferenzen jedes Mal erneut eingegeben werden, wenn Anwendungen, die identische Zwecke erfüllen, auf verschiedenen Plattformen genutzt werden. Dies kostet nicht nur Zeit, sondern im Fall der Mobilgeräte auch Geld, da hier in der Regel noch zeitbasiert Gebühren für eine Verbindung anfallen. Daher würde eine Integration von web- und mobilbasierten Diensten eine umfangreiche Ersparnis bedeuten. Im gewerblichen Bereich wird eine Integration von Diensten auch häufig mit höherer Leistungsfähigkeit der Mitarbeiter in Verbindung gebracht, da die mobile Endgeräte eine Erweiterung des Corporate Network darstellen und somit Prozesse optimiert werden können und Fehlinformationen abnehmen (vgl. Müller-Veerse 2000, S. 32; Philipp 2001, S. 75).
