Abstract
A search for the production of charmed particles in 14.75 GeV/c pp interactions has been carried out. The search was sensitive to charmed particles in the 1.5 to 4.0 GeV mass region, decaying into a strange particle with up to eight additional pions and a strange particle with an associated positron or electron. Preliminary analyses on production of such particles are presented.

This sample represents about of the total number of fitted vees expected from the experiment. For this search, we have not applied fiducial volume cuts or geometric weights to the observed vees. Cross-sections and upper limits quoted in the text are normalized to those given in Reference [4].
We have determined by ionization in a sample of events with fitted vees that 10 % of the charged tracks are protons (identifiable with plab < 1.2 GeV/c) and 2 % are kaons (with plab <0.5 GeV/c).
The criteria for shower selection were derived from a study of lepton (e ±) tracks emerging from the vertices of gamma conversion located inside the chamber.

According to Reference [10], the chance of deducing an accurate charmed particle mass is poor even with increased statistics. This is due to the fact that pairs of charmed particles have to be produced in hadron-hadron interactions.
